Sligo, on the west coast of Ireland, is easily accessible by road, air, train and bus.
The Yeats Building, Hyde Bridge is right in the heart of Sligo. It next to the beautiful Garavogue river and just around the corner from O’Connell Street, the main street in Sligo.
All the lectures and most events will be at the Methodist Church Hall, Wine Street, just a five minute walk from the Yeats Building. Seminars will be held in a variety of central locations. Buses will be arranged to transport you to all other venues outside of town.
By Air
Ireland West Airport
Located just fifty minutes drive from Sligo, Ireland West Airport Knock is the main international airport for the North of Ireland. As this is a small airport, the option of available flights may be limited.
There are frequent buses from Knock to Sligo Bus Station. Feda O’Donnell Coaches are slightly quicker (10euro; 1hr 5mins) than Bus Eireann Expressway (15euro; 1hr 25mins) but both are fine.
Dublin Airport
Approximately a 2.5-3 hour drive to Sligo.
There are direct buses from the airport to Sligo Bus Station (eg. Expressway; 19euro; 3hrs 45mins) that are relatively cheap. You do not have to book in advance, but if you’re travelling in the evening/night it might be better to book to ensure they know you’re coming.
Transfer to Dublin City Centre
- There are Citylink buses that can bring you from the airport to The Central Bus station, Dublin, across the road from Connolly Train Station. You do not have to book in advance, as there are many information services at the airport to help you find the right bus.
- Taxis are available, but could be 20-30euro by the time you get to Connolly in the traffic.
From Dublin you can continue your journey to Sligo by train or bus.
Belfast Airport
Approximately a 2.5-3 hour drive to Sligo.
There are no direct buses or trains from Sligo to Belfast. It is possible to arrive via a connection from Enniskillen or Dublin, but it would take more than 5 hours.
Shannon Airport
Approximately a 2.5 hour drive to Sligo.
From Dublin City Centre
By train
The train is direct from Connolly Station to Sligo (Mac Diarmada) Station (3hrs).
The Sligo train station is then a 10 minute walk to the Yeats Society/The Glasshouse or a 10 minute drive to the Sligo Park Hotel.
A return ticket is approximately €40 per adult. Buying a ticket on the train is more expensive.

By bus
Bus Eireann Expressway/Intercity Services link major towns and cities across the Republic of Ireland
Some buses may go through every town on the way to Sligo which takes longer, so make sure you check the route while booking.

From Dublin Port
If you are not a fan of flying, the ferry to Dublin Port may also be an option. It is approximately a 3 hour drive to Sligo from Dublin.
If you are travelling as a foot passenger, you can get a bus or taxi to Connolly station (10 mins) and get the train to Sligo.

You choose! There are many places available. There are several hotels and guest houses with various prices, but those near the centre fill very rapidly. Hostels are the cheapest option, but are very basic and lack privacy and safe storage of your property.
